Are you worried that medications you take daily could do more harm than good to your body?  Are you reluctant to go through a risky and painful surgery? Are you looking for a safe and effective way to treat chronic conditions such as sciatica,  joint pain, vertigo, fibromyalgia, migraine, or insomnia? Or do you need help with women’s health issues?

Guan Acupuncture in Gainesville, FL is the solution that you are looking for!

We are different from all other clinics in the whole world for the following four reasons.

Dr. Weiwei Guan has been trained with the knowledge and experience obtained from treating hundreds of thousands of patients by five generations of Drs. Guan in more than 130 years. Her great-great-grandfather started practicing acupuncture in the 1880s. Since then every generation of the Drs. Guan contributed to the family legacy. Her grandfather was the co-founder of China’s first national acupuncture association and the editor of China’s first journal of Integrative Medicine. Her father is one of China’s most famous specialists in alternative medicine. People around the world have gone to China to study under him. Guan Special Acupuncture is officially ranked among China’s Top 7 acupuncture academic schools. Their techniques are included in many textbooks.

Dr. Weiwei Guan has worked at Shands Hospital for years after graduating from UF with her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She “speaks the same language” as other health professionals so there is little chance of miscommunication. Patients and their healthcare provided can easily communicate with Dr. Guan as they would with any other providers in the Western medicine system, and not have to worry about culture barriers.

Very few other specialists, if any, has had the intensive anatomy training that our acupuncturist, Dr. Weiwei Guan, obtained through her education in the Western medicine system. She went through a total of 36 months of anatomy training in college, graduate school and residency, working on real cadavers, as part of her Doctor of Physical Therapy training. No acupuncture school in the whole world offers this type of training. She knows where to insert the needles and, more importantly, where not to, ensuring the safety of her patients.

If it is suitable to your condition, you will get the benefits of combination treatment from a leading expert in providing integrated solution to musculoskeletal problems. While acupuncture is better at controlling inflammation and pain, stimulating the recovery of nerves, and treating non-musculoskeletal problems, physical therapy is better at improving strength, range of motion, endurance and coordination. After graduating with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of Florida, Dr. Guan completed orthopedic physical therapy residency at UF Shands Orthopedic and Sport Medicine Institute, where she received intensive training in treating various muscoloskeletal conditions. She has helped many patients with physical therapy since 2011.

Our acupuncture clinic can be paired with physical therapy to treat many painful conditions. When combined with PT, it is always customized to address each patient’s singular issues and concerns. Our approach to healing is to find the most effective individualized treatment strategy for each patient
